The company is breaking new ground in combining network and database technologies to offer right-time access to information regardless of what format it is stored in and where it is located. “We are extremely pleased to receive this level of commitment from such top-tier players in the venture and high technology arenas,” said Thomas Henn, CEO and co-founder of CenterBoard. “This investment is a huge vote of confidence from people who understand the compelling benefits of using a network approach for EII solutions. CenterBoard will use this round of funding to bring these solutions to market and for further product development.” “With extensive experience in both the database and networking worlds, the CenterBoard team has the track record necessary for building a highly successful company,” said John Occhipinti, managing director of Woodside Fund and CenterBoard Board member. As early employees of other successful start-ups, including Red Brick Systems, Cloudscape, CopperCom, Auspex and Portal, CenterBoard’s management team has broad experience in growing early-stage companies to become market leaders. [Editors: please refer to today’s news release entitled “CenterBoard Announces Executive Management Team” for more information about CenterBoard’s management team.] “With its stellar management team and an EII market that is heating up, CenterBoard is poised to take the lead in this emerging market,” said Neal Dempsey, managing general partner of Bay Partners and also a CenterBoard Board member. CenterBoard’s technology was originally designed and deployed by the US Army to control troops and assets in the battlefield in 1999. Siemens brought Dr. Julio Navas, now CenterBoard’s CTO, into its incubation center to develop commercial applications for the technology. Commercial design wins include a European postal service for track and trace, a leading provider of Supply Chain Execution software for global warehouse management, a Systems Integrator working with a large retailer for global distribution center management, and several large enterprises expanding their data warehouse virtually by instantly adding data sources. CenterBoard spun out from Siemens in 2003. “It is clear that EII is a strong growth market, and we have partnered with CenterBoard across Siemens because we think its combination of database and networking technology will revolutionize the way that companies access information across and beyond the enterprise,” said Bjoern Christensen, president and CEO of Siemens Venture Capital, the corporate venture organization for all Siemens' businesses worldwide. “In fact, we've taken CenterBoard’s solution to very large Siemens customers and have already seen great response.” About CenterBoard CenterBoard is a privately held company that is breaking new ground in combining network and database technologies to lead the emerging market for Enterprise Information Integration.
